This is what we want to achieve for Oegstgeest from 2026 to 2030
We strive for a village community where we look after each other, care for nature and where everyone is equal. We want a village community where everyone can join and participate. Where living is not a luxury but a right. Where (youth-)care is accessible for those who need it. Where we protect nature for future generations. Together we take on the challenges of today.
An Inclusive Oegstgeest
Oegstgeest should be a place where no one is left behind. The municipality must be there when you need support. For us this means:
More affordable homes
1,200 new homes will be built. At least 65% of these homes should be social housing and other affordable homes—for young and old.
Strong support for vulnerable residents
We will keep investing in care and wellbeing, with extra attention for young people, older residents, and people with disabilities.
Good facilities
We want strong local facilities: good schools, sports facilities, a library, and an indoor swimming pool. We also want a welcoming village centre where people can meet.
Safe, inclusive places to play and exercise
We want pleasant and safe places where everyone can play, exercise, and meet—also people with disabilities.
A green Oegstgeest
Our living environment is something we share. We choose healthy nature and a pleasant neighbourhood. For us this means:
A greener living environment
We want more, better, and more accessible green spaces in every neighbourhood. We will connect parks and green areas with green corridors. We will continue subsidies for green roofs and rain barrels.
Investing in sustainability
Insulating your home and switching to clean energy should be affordable for everyone.
Reduced noise pollution and cleaner air
We want less noise and air pollution from Schiphol and the A44.
A safe place for walking and cycling
We will give pedestrians and cyclists more space. In more places, cars will have lower priority.
Together we shape the community
We work with residents, clubs, associations, and local businesses to prepare our village for the future. For us this means:
Everyone can participate
Everyone should be able to participate—regardless of income, background, gender, disability, or education.
A Council that listens – and acts
Local government must be transparent and fair. Residents should have a real say in plans for their neighbourhood—and no one should be excluded.
